Should I switch to a career in sales?

I've done administrative support work all my life from receptionist up to branch manager. I feel like I've helped other people make a great living but now I'm thinking of switching to a career in sales and making some real money for myself. Has anybody made the switch from office to "outside"? Any advise?

Yes, I made the switch. I too helped others make a great living and decided it was my turn.
After a lot of research, I found a company that I feel has a lot of integrity and everything in place for people to come in and start working right away. I started earning an income on my 2nd day and have never looked back.
I suggest you build your business first until you either replace or surpass your current income, but remember, while you are doing that you are creating residual income as well.
I went into it with a great deal of enthusiasm and must say I truly enjoy being paid in direct proportion to my efforts. I put a lot of time into it, but it is very rewarding.

If you can deal with rejection, and commission-based-salary then make the move and make some money!! Like you, I have been admin asst and executive asst and recruiter all my life, and I like knowing how much my check will be.
