Does Bush think he's above the law?

I'm not just talking about commuting Libby's sentence, which in effect rewarded Libby for not speaking out against Republicans who outed CIA agent Valeria Plane for political advantage. I'm talking about the hundreds of laws, Bush has chosen to ignore.

WASHINGTON -- President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution.

Far more than any predecessor, Bush has been aggressive about declaring his right to ignore vast swaths of laws -- many of which he says infringe on power he believes the Constitution assigns to him alone as the head of the executive branch or the commander in chief of the military.

Many legal scholars say they believe that Bush's theory about his own powers goes too far and that he is seizing for himself some of the law-making role of Congress and the Constitution-interpreting role of the courts.

i could not have said it better then what you just did

In short, yes. I will be surprised if Bush makes it to the end of 2008 without an impeachment.

Bush prooved that yesterday. Bush is a traitor to justice.

Johnny - come - lately always did think he was above the law

Yes. No question in my mind. Michael Moore showed clearly that he was raised to believe that he was above the law and to have no morals.

It stinks. Libby would have been out of prison on parole after a year, and justice would not have been molested.

he is hopeless

The only faint glimmer of hope that this country ever has of regaining its rightful place in the world is if and when bush and cheney are hanged on the steps of the White House for High Treason.

THEN we can go on.

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator."
- President-elect George W. Bush, December 18, 2000.

What more proof do we need to impeach this maniac?

So you're accusing Bush of doing what the Supreme Court has done for centuries now.

It's not so much that Bush thinks he's above the Law. He just doesn't see any further need for the Law now that he's in power.

He's not above the law. The law only applies to those without money/power. Silly question.

Better question is who is better president- one who questions meaning of the word 'sex' or 'torture'?

Or a president who breaks the law to ensure reelection so he can project what he feels is best for the nation or one who does so to ensure profits for big business?

And our constitution was sent to Iraq as we were no longer using it.

It is stunning to me the number of behind-the-scenes, executive memos and pure, unabashed disregard for our Constitution that this president has done. He tries to come off as some simple minded, plain speaking, average guy. He and his minions are destroying the fabric of our judicial system, our standing in the world as a free and FAIR country. It will be generations of people 'paying' for his bumbling.

Is the Pope Catholic?

In a word, YES! Bush is a modern day Hitler!

Absolutely! He has violated both the Constitution and His Oath of Office to Protect that very document on numerous occasions (illegal war, torture, illegal wiretaps, signing statements, etc). The Libby commutation is really no surprise (except I guessed he would pardon him). This is an administration gone rogue and it should be impeached, removed from office, tried for it's crimes in the U.S. and then before the Hague. I believe only then can we redeem ourselves.

~

Bush thinks he IS the law. He's suffering from the worst GOD Complex ever imagined.
