Seeing shameless waste of money in County, whom in Government do I contact about?

Lately I have made and try to make use of different government agencies, as well as public places, such as a couple of library branches, only to find an excess of employees administering very badly, up to the point of looking more like vacation resorts than workplaces. I have written couple of emails to Major's office (County Major), and appropriate agency directors. But seeing things worsen, and even citizens well-being endangered; whom do I go to from here? Whom can I talk to in Government who would make these people accountable?

If you are in the USA, I would contact the local newspaper with a list of facts. Make sure you have specific instances of mismanagement with dates and times plus names if possible. If it is a self-respecting newspaper they will investigate it for you.

Make sure you have the facts written down or else you will just sound like a grumpy citizen. By the way, did you mean the "mayor" or did you mean "major" as you wrote; I have never heard of the title Major involved with local governments.

Each department should have a head. Try contacting them. The mayor is probably too far removed from the workplace to be involved. You could try a letter to the editor in your local newspaper, and see if they dare to print it. Your tax dollars at work, right?

Some of the local TV stations have investigative reporters. I would contact them with your observations and perhaps they would do a story on it. They often ask for accountability from the offending agencies. Then there is always, letters to the editor of local newspapers. Nothing gets done until the waste is made public and they have to explain it. Our government has more waste and shady dealings going on than any of us know. Why is it they dont stop the lobbist's in washington, getting our elected officials to vote for what profits them instead of what is good for the people they represent. They even have foreign lobbists who represent countries who would loose money if certain laws were passed, and they too pursuade our elected officials to vote for what they want. In any other circumstances this would be known as bribery!

Maybe, just accept that you are smarter than they are. People who are Bright, have to step back now and again and think about how that person got the job! It may not be fair but maybe you have to, be empathetic,??

I would document it all and then run for office. The only thing we can do is take our Gov. back. You might not win the first time out but you will get the message out. We had a guy here in St. Louis, who could arguably be called a nut case. He ran for the local school board and lost. But he got name recognition and ran again. He ran two are three times, I don't remember which, but he eventually won. So get out there and go to work. If everybody got involved I believe it would be a better world. UP THE REVOLUTION.
