Who here thinks that Nancy Pelosi should be removed from office and arrested for visiting Syria?

By going to Syria she has violated the Logan Act, which prohibits members of Congress from meeting with representatives of enemy states without permission from the Executive Branch. If Pelosi were to be charged and convicted under the Logan Act, which is a felony, she could be imprisoned for up to 10 years.
It was passed in 1799 and last amended in 1994. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law.

I agree, first time in history that a congressmen has gone to a country that we ceased diplomatic relations with. It is a massive breach in the separation of powers. Diplomatic negotiations and process is a enumerated power of the EXECUTIVE BRANCH in the constitution. I am so glad someone else was just as upset about this action as I am. I don't care if it was a republican or a Whig doing this. The president and his representatives have the power alone to negotiate diplomacy.

I wish she would be prosecuted. It was a sneaky and dirty thing to do. Good idea, show our enemies how united we are by having our president, who has this power, say one thing and then having a congressmen doing something completely different, breaking the law in the process. I am surprised this hasn't received any outrage in the media or among the president and the republicans.

In summary, yes. She should be prosecuted and removes from office.

Neither Nancy Pelosi nor Newt Gingrich have a hope in hell of effecting any changes what so ever.

If she has violated the Logan Act than so did Gingrich and Hastert. They were not removed and neither should she. Amazing how stupid some people can be. It is okay for their side to disobey laws but not the other side, or are any of them disobeying laws?

The Logan act hasn't been enforced in over 200 years. There have been may times where members of congress met with leaders of foreign governments and the executive branch chose not to pursue enforcement of the Logan act. There has also been debate over the years as to whether or not congress is covered by the act. If the Bush administration were to try to enforce it with Pelosi it would be seen correctly as being a 100% political decision, especially if charges were not brought against the republicans who went to Syria and meet with Assad a couple of days before Pelosi.

The Logan Act is essentially meaningless, it has never been enforced, no one has ever been convicted. The amendment in 1994 did nothing of any consequence. What good is a law when no one wishes to enforce it?

And FYI, neither Israel or Syria are classified as ENEMY STATES..........or did you miss that?

If she's to be brought up on charges, then everyone else, including the Republican member of her group and 3 other Republicans who did the same as she has would also have to be charged.

Had the State Department not wanted her and the others to go, they had the power and right to stop the trip in its tracks. So it is as much the failure of the Administration to clamp down on her and all others before the fact which now would make it absolutely foolish to take an action after the fact. In that sense, they all had tacit permission to proceed as they did.

Your anger and distress should be equally directed against the Administration. Think about it.

You haven't offered any evidence that Ms pelosi in fact violated the Logan Act, which bythe way makes no mention at all of "enemy" states, and does not in fact prevent anybody from meeting with any member of a foreign government. Until you offer evidence that Ms Pelosi met with foreigners to defeat measures of the US, I'm unlikely to support her arrest.

That is absolutely ridiculous, if anyone should be arrested it should be the bush administration and the foreign affairs advisors. And under my knowledge the logal act refers to private citizens not to a member from congress.
