GE Microwave shutting off after 5 seconds?

The only answer GE can give us is for a service call. Can anyone out there tell us if this is something we can do ourselves or are we hosed? The microwave is powered on all the time but if you try to use it, it dies after 5 seconds. Thanks for any help.

don't mess with electronic items...

u'd rather be in trouble, plus your warranty will be void if u try to open it up....
