Sink clogged in Apt. are we required to pay? |
A family member clogged the kitchen sink with oily soup. We tried drano twice. (I think theres a blockage of some sort, perhaps a chunk of meat?) It went down slowly but now its not going down at all. We were thinking of notifying the landlord but I recall him saying we must pay $50 for any plumbing service. We live in California. Is this a normal procedure? Are we liable to pay the $50? I dont mind, just want to know my rights! :) Thanks for any helpful answers in advance! Read your lease. Is there a stipulation about paying for repairs in it? Why not keep things friendly with the landlord (he did tell you you had to pay) and $50 is cheap for a plumber. It will probably cost him twice that much at least. Take the drain off and clean everything insides ( including the elbow & pipe leading to the sink basin ), simple to do. you caused the problem- not him. If you have integrity, you will pay for it. buy a plunger , there very cheap, it should do the trick |
