OPINION-Which is easier-Food Service or Retail??

And I'm NOT talking management here, I mean like the drive-thru guy at a Burger King, or a checkout girl at a supermarket, or a waitress at Denny's, or the cashier at Hollister....... you get the idea! You know, "the bottom" of the company/corp.


I've worked in both areas and I just want to see what everyone else thinks!

And yes, I know IT DEPENDS ON THE PARTICULAR PLACE - but this is just for fun and to share opinions.

As far as actual labor involved, and comfortable working conditions, retail is much easier. Although neither job is "easy" per say. In retail you have to deal with typically incompetent bosses and customers who can't seem to help themselves with even the smallest of tasks.

Retail. It's hard working both because of dealing with people but in food they blame you if there's a problem even if they caused it. For example you made a sandwich for someone that didn't say no ketchup. They decided they didn't want it and say "I told you no ketchup"

retail, never get orders wrong, if you drop it, its still good coz they wont be eating it, less chance of getting food thrown at you by angry customers (it has happened), i have worked both just out of school and retail was soooo much easier i think

In my opinion, I think food services. I despise retail lol it really sucks. I worked at Macy's for about a month and then quit. I've worked at a supermarket..my first job was at Wendy's, it's really not that easy but far off better than retail ... blah

food service rocks. i work at a marriott hotel with holidays off with pay. plus i get 80% off hotel room rate, that means i pay between $35 to $50 a night while you all have to pay over $125 a night

Retail, because you can be promoted.

I think retail is easier. Food service people have to deal with a lot of impatience.

go with retail. it allows more opportunities down the road.

retail, no doubt, people get very impatient when it comes to their food, and people can get really mad
