I need help in understanding this? |
I received a violation notice from YA for answering this question. Please read over it and tell me what rule I violated. Has something gone amiss at YA? I'm not sure what violation is involved. Perhaps it might be the references to specific business. They may consider your response as an attempt to plug one or more of the mailorder houses. Personally, I thought your answer was excellent. By the way, did you get hold of the radical case forming lube I mentioned in our last conversation? Did you like it? Yahoo has a staunch anti gun, anti hunting policy, the regulars here in the hunting section get violation notices daily for valid answers to valid questions, but when a vegetarian or peta member comes here to harrass us, they are given free reign. The double standards of yahoo answers rules enforcement is epidemic here in the hunting section. If you try to fight the violation, you get the typical form letter which explains nothing as to the specifics for your violation. If you go the next step, yahoo will always side with itself, regardless of the validity of your answer. Everyone that's a regular here in the hunting section has experienced this at one time or another. Some of us more than others. If you don't want violations, become an anti gun, anti hunting radical and you're rewarded by yahoo with ZERO penalty. I got a similar so-called 'violation' notice supposedly because my answer was "not an answer nor a question." THAT was my answer!!! I'm guessing that as long you aren't trying to teach people how to convert weapons into fully automatic, or some crazy stuff like that, you wouldn't have violated any policy. Alot of people mention specific brands and companies and they dont' get in trouble. There is no justifiable, valid, reasonable, credible, common sense reason for you receiving a violation notice pertaining to this question, and the answer you gave to it.* This has happened to all of us at one time or another.* I believe they owe you an explanation and apology.* Yeah, get those a lot myself. I'm actually surprised I'm still here! Yahoo Answers is indeed a little to the left of center. I am surprised they allow this formum at all. I agreed 110% with what you say. And with all your other answers as a matter of fact. funny, it is the people that actually have some common sense and stand for what is right and good about our past times that get scolded and mocked here. Where does this lead to......Sometimes I wonder if we are not becoming the few and they are becoming the many. Frightening. I wonder if it has to do with naming specific companies. Perhaps they don't like endorsements. Other than that, I have no idea. I'd have given the same advice. Clearly, the person knows little english and very little about guns. I steer away from answering questions for people like that. I've been getting these - AND - also notice some of my really detailed answers are getting 'thumbs down' ratings for no reason at all. sounds to me like that is good quality advice to someone who doesnt really understand the complexity of what they are trying to do. i would say that your advice could have possibly saved someone from trying a repair on their own then hurting themselves when they went to shoot the gun!!! Unless you want it to blow up in your face. Take it to a reputable gunsmith for your own safety, as well as the fact that the work is guaranteed. It's not worth risking it! The idiot that asked the question was offended If any two people report your answer for any reason, right or wrong, YA deletes it. I would have given a similar answer therefore I pick your answer as 'Best Answer" It sounds like they did it for safety. They don't want people trying something like this and get hurt. The barrel could blow up if somehting like this is not done correctly. Something has always been amiss at YA. They try to come on as "Politically Correct", whatever the Hell that means. This is the USA. You gave a good answer, and the violation is one of those frequent if inexplicable things about this site. Dude all I can say is don't do it again next time they might take your birthday away -LOL Don't sweat these guys your answers are always solid they have to pick on someone! you just got tagged a few times by the antis. The yahoo admins all seem to be antigun, so if it gets tagged, they have no mercy. From what I can tell any user can "report" your question or answer as in some way being a violation of YA guidelines. When I first joined I had a question removed within a very short time of being posted. The policy seems to be that the reported violation is quickly removed and that the "appeal" procedure can then be requested and the question or answer may or may not reappear. I appealed my removed question and never heard anything back. I'm guessing that means it will never appear again. I have noticed that YA wants to keep things very pc and I have felt that any and all questions about guns are ones that most of the people using YA would like to see dissapear. I thought your answer was informative and encouraged safety. I feel better knowing that someone else has felt the disciplining slap of YA. Especially someone like yourself who is a top contributor. Now they will probably remove your new post and my answer. CIH, |
