I need help in understanding this?

I received a violation notice from YA for answering this question. Please read over it and tell me what rule I violated. Has something gone amiss at YA?

Question: How make shot gun,s barell rib and how to fix it on barell?

Question Details:

Deleted Answer: Unless you are a gunsmith or machinest, you don't make barrel ribs, you buy them from such places as www.brownells.com, www.midwayusa.com or www.midsouthshooterssupply.com. Then you take it to a gunsmith and have him silver solder it onto the barrel. It is a job that requires skill and precision and is not a do it yourself job.

Violation Reason:Community Guidelines and/or Terms Of Service Violation

I'm not sure what violation is involved. Perhaps it might be the references to specific business. They may consider your response as an attempt to plug one or more of the mailorder houses. Personally, I thought your answer was excellent. By the way, did you get hold of the radical case forming lube I mentioned in our last conversation? Did you like it?
Danny P.

Yahoo has a staunch anti gun, anti hunting policy, the regulars here in the hunting section get violation notices daily for valid answers to valid questions, but when a vegetarian or peta member comes here to harrass us, they are given free reign. The double standards of yahoo answers rules enforcement is epidemic here in the hunting section. If you try to fight the violation, you get the typical form letter which explains nothing as to the specifics for your violation. If you go the next step, yahoo will always side with itself, regardless of the validity of your answer. Everyone that's a regular here in the hunting section has experienced this at one time or another. Some of us more than others. If you don't want violations, become an anti gun, anti hunting radical and you're rewarded by yahoo with ZERO penalty.

I got a similar so-called 'violation' notice supposedly because my answer was "not an answer nor a question." THAT was my answer!!!

They give you the opportunity to protest their decision however, you will never hear from them again. They hide out somewhere in California (I suppose), sip cappuccinos insulated from the real world and handle this site as a virtual game rather than reality. They don't seem to understand about vicarious liability & criminal indifference when they allow certain questions which don't pertain to this forum & endanger (for example) police officer's lives.

I wouldn't even worry about them and just keep on answering questions and giving good advice like you always do.

H

I'm guessing that as long you aren't trying to teach people how to convert weapons into fully automatic, or some crazy stuff like that, you wouldn't have violated any policy. Alot of people mention specific brands and companies and they dont' get in trouble.

I'm guessing that you were given that notice in error.

your best bet would be to contact YA and ask them if they can educate you on the specific reason why you got in trouble "so you won't do it again". That's the surefire way of getting an answer.

good luck man! I know that sucks!

There is no justifiable, valid, reasonable, credible, common sense reason for you receiving a violation notice pertaining to this question, and the answer you gave to it.* This has happened to all of us at one time or another.* I believe they owe you an explanation and apology.*

Yeah, get those a lot myself. I'm actually surprised I'm still here!

With the Nazi-like "community policing" system at Y!A, where anyone who does not like you or your question/answer can "turn you in to the Gestapo" and report you as a violator, it happens.

Take solice in the fact that Yahoo! will soon be taken over by corporate raiders....pirates really...who will cut these Yahoo! people's jobs and benefits and dispose of them like you cutting off the excess fat from a brisket.

Yahoo Answers is indeed a little to the left of center. I am surprised they allow this formum at all. I agreed 110% with what you say. And with all your other answers as a matter of fact. funny, it is the people that actually have some common sense and stand for what is right and good about our past times that get scolded and mocked here. Where does this lead to......Sometimes I wonder if we are not becoming the few and they are becoming the many. Frightening.

Best regards.

Shoot safe and shoot often.

I wonder if it has to do with naming specific companies. Perhaps they don't like endorsements. Other than that, I have no idea. I'd have given the same advice. Clearly, the person knows little english and very little about guns. I steer away from answering questions for people like that.

I've been getting these - AND - also notice some of my really detailed answers are getting 'thumbs down' ratings for no reason at all.

I have long suspected there are anti-hunters that regularly comb this Hunting Answers and hit the "Report It"or give bad ratings to prevent knowledgable people from answering the tough questions.

sounds to me like that is good quality advice to someone who doesnt really understand the complexity of what they are trying to do. i would say that your advice could have possibly saved someone from trying a repair on their own then hurting themselves when they went to shoot the gun!!!

Unless you want it to blow up in your face. Take it to a reputable gunsmith for your own safety, as well as the fact that the work is guaranteed. It's not worth risking it!

The idiot that asked the question was offended
at being shown up. - Happens sometimes.
After all, you didn't really answer the question he asked.

If any two people report your answer for any reason, right or wrong, YA deletes it. I would have given a similar answer therefore I pick your answer as 'Best Answer"

It sounds like they did it for safety. They don't want people trying something like this and get hurt. The barrel could blow up if somehting like this is not done correctly.

Something has always been amiss at YA. They try to come on as "Politically Correct", whatever the Hell that means. This is the USA.

You gave a good answer, and the violation is one of those frequent if inexplicable things about this site.

Dude all I can say is don't do it again next time they might take your birthday away -LOL Don't sweat these guys your answers are always solid they have to pick on someone!

you just got tagged a few times by the antis. The yahoo admins all seem to be antigun, so if it gets tagged, they have no mercy.

I suspect that technically they will cite the fact that you didn't answer the question, as you didn't tell him how to make a "shot gun.s barrel rib"

It doesn't matter that his question is a nonsense as "how can I make an airplane out of a shoebox that my pet giraffe can fly?" Thing is, if that question was asked in 'aviation' and some people 'answered' the non-answer of 'you can't do that' the moderators would realize it and do nothing to those answerers.

"But guns are evil and you must be bad, go away from yahoo baby killer evil gun lover, so here is your punishment!" is the attitude of the admins and mods here

From what I can tell any user can "report" your question or answer as in some way being a violation of YA guidelines. When I first joined I had a question removed within a very short time of being posted. The policy seems to be that the reported violation is quickly removed and that the "appeal" procedure can then be requested and the question or answer may or may not reappear. I appealed my removed question and never heard anything back. I'm guessing that means it will never appear again. I have noticed that YA wants to keep things very pc and I have felt that any and all questions about guns are ones that most of the people using YA would like to see dissapear. I thought your answer was informative and encouraged safety. I feel better knowing that someone else has felt the disciplining slap of YA. Especially someone like yourself who is a top contributor. Now they will probably remove your new post and my answer.

CIH,

I received violation notices for things that made no sense as well.

People click on the report button and it goes into a violation bit bucket. I think there are people who's sole aim on Y! is to gear it toward their politically correct view. no guns and global communism is the direction Y! wants our world heading in, Y! was founded by a bunch of San Francisco libs, and if it don't follow the Pelosi, FineSlim line of thinking they will make it not exist.

These are people who view the constitution and bill of rights as fallable flawed relic that needs to be usurped in favor of the communist manefesto and Das Kapital.

Ever present are the idiots pushing agendas,

CIH you are a knowledgeable gunsmith, I respect the information you provide for gun smithing issues. I personally do not see any problems with how you replied.

The one thing they might get a bug in their bun about is the urls, I've been telling posters to google a particular site such as "Google "Midway USA" or "Mid South Shooter" this may stave off the violation nazis'.

The 2nd amendment preserves our rights to exercise the 1st amendment. Given Y! propensity to liberalism, it's only a matter of time before the the PC gestapo will boot those of you who don't believe the global warming mantra, believe in gun rights, and believe in the inherent value of the republic but not the government, are ousted.
