Independent Contractor Employed / Driver With a Taxi Cab Company. I lease the taxi cab. Had accident.?

The insured driver hit me and, is at fault. She hit me while I was driving the taxi cab. I was not in service at the time of the accident. I did have a passenger in the taxi cab at the time of this accident. Passenger was injured, so was I. I am the driver.

The cab company's manager says I have 24 hours for a drug test since I was injured in the accident.

Is it law that says I must submit to this drug test within 24 hours of the accident? I am a independent contractor and, I lease this cab and work under this taxi service? Does it matter if I was "In Service" or "Not in Service" at the time of the accident?

This type of case is state sensitive but as a generic answer not knowing your state, yes, the company can require a drug screen and it is probably a condition of their coverage on the taxi by the insurance, if you refuse you could easily lose your coverage for any injuries you sustained and if you were treated at a hospital they probably drew a blood sample and already have enough to test.~
