Nokia N95 Unable To Make Calls Or Send Text Messages?

This is an answer as opposed to a question. I see so many questions answered wrongly but can't give my 2p worth as the questions have been marked as resolved.

Hopefully this will help someone who receives a "connection failed" message when making a call or "unable to send" message when sending a txt.

The issue is with 3G enabled on the phone. Its not the phone's fault, its the way UK networks handle 3G. By disabling 3G you should resolve connection problems.

On the N95 you can do this by entering Tools>Settings>Phone>Network>Network Mode>Selecting GSM.

You might wonder why this is intermittent, the answer is that networks change settings about from antenna to antenna to try and improve the service. If you have your phone in dual mode and try making a call via an antenna which is under maintenance, then quite likely you will get a connection failure. Ive had the same thing on all the Nokia Symbian phones Ive had.

Simple fix is to disable 3G.
