Is it still possible for someone to spy on my computer activity if I use mozilla Firefox as my server? |
I read in Answers that if I use Mozilla Firefox as opposed to Internet Explorer as my browser, that if someone was spying on my activity (like a friend) from another computer that they would be unable to view my activity, even if Firefox was already installed when they gained access??? Also I went to my event viewer which someone on this site suggested to see who was logging on but unable to gauge anything??? users listed were "network service" "local service" "system" a few said "owner" and a few "anonymous logon".......i use a wireless USB card for my service, .....I thought anyonymous may have been a clue but the time indicated for logon today by anonyms is about the time I logged on, why would it show me as anonymous and what exactly do the other terms mean?? why so many??? "FRUSTRATED" thx for the responses, ok .....now I know what a browser is.......lol..........I'm definitely learning something new everyday.........I'm sure that I'm just paranoid........................... Firefox is a web browser, not a server. Network service and local service are telling you how you are connected to the internet. A local area connection is a network, like a wifi hot spot. The task manager alone is not a good way to tell if someone is "spying" on you or not. If your PC is infected with spyware, the creator of the spyware can view your online activities. Other people can also view your online activities if they detect your wireless signal and connect to the Internet with it. Contact your ISP on how to secure your wireless connection. Mozilla Firefox isn't a server, just an internet browser, but no, they can't spy on you for just using a certain internet browser. The person that said that obviously just hates Mozilla Firefox. Firefox is a browser not a server. Using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer will not change the security risks. If you have a properly configured firewall and run a virus checking program reasonably often, you probably aren't having your screen spied on, but if you are really paranoid someone would do this to you and they have strong technical knowledge and you don't, I don't think I'll be able to show you how to do enough to convince you you are ok. May I suggest that whatever you are trying to hide from someone, you will hide better using a telephone, cell phone, cell phone messages, clandestine meetings, so long as you aren't concerned the person trying to track you works for the police or has access to your phone accounts, or tracks your car with a hidden GPS device. The best thing to do is not lead a secretive life and put a restraining order on whoever is stalking you. |
