How do I stop receiving text messages from this stupid five digit number?

Every other day I get random proverbs sent to my cell phone via text messaging from the number "71888".

Today's example: "If you manage to combine a break in the day with doing something that makes you feel healthier you'll feel virtuous and settled!"

I did not sign up for this service (if you can call it a service - more like an annoyance!) and have no idea how they/it got my number. Before you answer this, know that if you're about to tell me: 鈥淵ou may stop this subscription service at any time by sending a text message with STOP, to short code 71888鈥? you're wasting your time. I've tried that on numerous occasions and it doesn't work.

Someone help.

i had that happen to me except they were jokes and i was subscribed somehow

i got it by going on the internet on my phone
if you have access to the internet that might be your answer
just like a computer, you get hacked or w/e
well, someone decided to sign you up for random proverbs

just call your service provider and explain the issue and they will stop it

have you tried the word cancel. go to your provider and they will probably know how to stop it
