Can I get into University of Florida (and other insights)?

Hola everyone,

so basically I know these kind of questions are so cliche but Id truly like to know if it is likely that I could ever get into UF. I have a 5.2 weighted GPA and an unweighted of 3.9, presidents of club associated with spreading awareness of aids, many literary and science awards and just above 200 hours of community service in the social services area. Im sick of stressing over this kind of stuff, any other insights into college life, university of florida, or whatevers oon your mind would be appreciated.

*Best answer is given according to whose answer seems the most genuine and basically helpful (even if it doesnt necessarily answer the original question)

*also forgot to mention, I plan to go into computer science area and have interned over the last summer as a basic programmer and some menial odd programming jobs. Ive also done quite a few AP classes (including computer science [5])

Jeebus, do you really just want to go to UF? If I was you, I would be applying to Ivy Leagues and places like Georgia Tech, UC Berkeley or Stanford.

UF's CS program is decent but it is not the best that you can go to. Unless you are choosing UF because of financial reason (Bright Futures, in-state tuition). UCF's and UF's are about the same quality.

If I was you and money is not a problem, I would go to a better CS program. UF is enduring some major budget cutbacks and have done away with several undergrad and grad degree programs. None of the budget cutbacks have addressed the overcrowded classes yet and limited resources available to UF undergrad students.

You sound well qualified. Just what they are looking for.
Re College life, probably better if someone there more recently answered your questions. I am sure things have changed.
You will have to be tough not to become a party person- lots of kids celebrate their new "Freedom" by doing everything but study. Most don't make it past the end of the first year. Plenty of temptations to resist. Bear down, be tough mentally, say "NO" a lot, and you will do well.

Just apply and find out for yourself. You could have the best grades anyone has ever had applying to that school (which isn't as tough to get into as FSU by the way), but whose to say that you won't drop out because on your first night away from home you get stinking drunk, get laid for the first time by the hot Floridian Blondie down the hall, and next thing you know she's pregnant...

Yes you can. And I would rate your odds at about 80-90% if you get a Sat above 2200.

In college your performance is largely determined by how motivated you are - no one will push you.
