What type of on board entertainment are on Qantas flights?

I have flown Qantas once before from Brisbane to Townsville and it was on a Boeing 737-800 (and -400 coming home) and there was just basic entertainment on a general TV screen with a sitcom, news and then some more entertainment.

But in July, I am going from Brisbane to Melbourne...but even though I have not book any flights yet (they are been booked for me), I have looked at the date/times we are most likley going to travel and they will be on the same aircraft (B737-800)

but the only difference is that its a 'City Flyer' service.

So 2 questions....will there be any better entertainment on the City Flyer service..and what are the differences between City Flyer and normal Qantas??

I don't believe there is any difference between service or entertainment in Qantas' "CityFlier" flights and their regular flights. "CityFlier" is just a name Qantas uses to market their busy weekday capital city routes, primarily targeting their business customers with this "slogan".

On the trans-Pacific flights, there is an interactive entertainment system: recent theatrical movie releases, TV shows, video games, music, GPS Information channel, etc. As for the CityFlyer, there's not many major differences other than no movies since you're not spending 14+ hrs to get from Melbourne to Brisbane. CityFlyer is better than some of the regular economy airlines here in the States, but then again, this is Qantas we're talking about; even in Economy, you get treated like royalty on their trans-Pacific flights!

I think this is only in first class, mind you. Certainly nobody in economy has ever offered me anything other than a suspect looking roll and a chicken that died of old age & depression.

Certainly you have a better chance of getting "full" service on the old flyin Roo than any of the other domestics. On Virgin the name speaks for itself, and on Jetstar they just sell you a napkin for $4 and tell you to take care of it yourself.

I have just flown Quantas again. From Melbourne to Adelaide.
Gone are the old screans at the front of the plane to be replaced with smaller screens every 3 seats. So everyone can now see.
In your arm rest you can listen to the TV's, which will show a new realease movie or you can listen to 12 channels of music.

I have never heard of the City Flyer but I would guess it similar to the other short flight's offered for Melbourne.
On a City Flyer you would get basic things like the music and a TV show to watch.
But on flying so far you get a movie and a meal depending on the time you fly.

I think that there is something called the "Mile High Club"! ;)
