Changing jobs within same company different department help ?
Hi All,

I have seeked a new job within the company I work for, better pay and I get a van to travel to and from work.
I have asked all permision, and gone through the correct channels and thought I had agreed with my Manager a leaving date and told my new boss of this start date.
Sadly my old boss, did not take my transfer letter, and rang the boss above him, and states I can leave when I am replaced by a new member of staff.
I was suppose to start my new job in two weeks time, but I have been told I have to stay till I get a replacement and this could be weeks.... and still there is no takers for my old job, paper, job centre etc. I have even printed flyers myself and posted them around my home address and work hoping to find a replacement.
Being an in house company transfer, I feel as if I am been held to ransome and feel that they are restricting me and my future and possible risk of loosing this new job
What can I do ? I have rang the top brass myself and fobbed off

I would hope someone could guide me in the right direction ?
What I cannot understand is its the same PLC company, but the new division is a different brand name and when I start this job, its on a three month trial and must go through another induction etc... if I am no good I walk like the last guy they sacked ?... I have four years service with my current job..

Am I being held at randsome ?
What is the procedure ?
Could I go to a citizen advice and ask for more help ? could they help, or is the problem inhouse company rules ?

Fed up, and I was told many years ago to better yourself in this company you need to apply for advertised jobs ?, this company has an internal job page and its been posted on there for employees to see and apply.... I am lost for words and would like some answers

first go to your human resources dept. find out exactly what it says about in house transfers. i am quite sure that you do not have to have another person there in order for you to leave. it would also be advisable to go to the labor department and speak with a representative. unless you have a special position that requires exceptional skill levels i do believe that they ar trying to mess with you. should you prove them wrong you will then have to watch for actions taken against you by others who you have proven to be wrong.discretion will be and must be your key to this action until everything is settled.
