Is America the Greatest?

Is America the greatest country on Earth? I think it's not, people in many countries are much better off, such as in Scandinavia, the health service, the police, the crime, the culture, the equality, places in many countries around the world have much better facilities than in USA.

Just because America is the most powerful, and makes blockbuster movies and makes the news most often, doesnt mean people are happiest or most prosperous there. Many smaller countries are doing much better for their size than America is, it's the average that matters, not who has the most billionnaires etc. What are your views?

In what particular respect? We Americans have the largest economy and the greatest overall level of advancement opportunity in the world.
If you value security and safety over the freedom to make your life better, then by all means live in Scandinavia or elsewhere in Europe.
My job occasionally takes me to parts of the Third World; mostly in some countries in Africa and Asia. Most people there (they are very smart) ultimately choose to try to go to the US because they understand that although the streets of America are not paved with gold, they will be rewarded for their efforts.
Personally, I choose to work hard and smart, and trust my own individual ability rather than rely on the dubious benefits of a Big Brother-style government.

As an American i have to say no. I would love to move to Canada which i see as the greatest country on earth. Ireland, Scotland, and Jamaica come in close. I really like America as far as the media such as music, movies, television, etc goes. You have to admit foreign sh*t sucks compared to the us.

I used to think it was but it isn't anything like it was and never will be. But I was born here and wouldn't feel right living in another country.Well maybe England for a while or France,but not forever

Yes, AMERICA is the greatest, the biggest, the strongest. WE HAVE BEEN for quite some time now. Great military, too. I wouldn't live anywhere else. Although there are some wonderful countries in the world that come very close. I think we are so great because we compare to those who may be asked for help and don't help. Seems we are always going to someone's aid. I know we have bad things too, but when you realize the size and population, there is more good than bad. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! and the world.

And if we are not the greatest, why does my small community all of a sudden look like Mexico? Why are they here? Jobs that they cannot get in their own country. Lots of opportunities. To better themselves. We have about 200 Romanians working here also. So, seems America is at least greater than those 2 places? All these immigrants. They must like something here. More opportunities than anywhere else in the world.
