What are my chances of getting to to University of Miami?

I'm currently a junior about to enter my senior year and am a die hard 'cane fan. I've loved and wanted to attend the University of Miami since I was a kid.

Well I have a 3.90 unweighted GPA 4.94 weighted GPA
top %1 percent of my class
Over 200 hours of community service
Involved in numerous extracurricular activities
I know I have great recommendations from community members and I'm sure to write an awesome essay

My only flaw was that the first time I took the SAT and ACT I did horrible (1430 SAT, 22 ACT) ( I didn't know at the time colleges would see scores even if you didn't send it to them)
I'm taking a summer ACT course hoping to achieve a 28 the next time. If I get a 28 on my second time ACT, keep up my GPA, and everything else, you think I still have a chance?

I really love this school and really want to attend

Only valid answers please

no chance
whats with the 4.94 gpa?

be sure to consider university of florida.

UM is extremely expensive and i know numerous UM guys who dont look so happy.

sorry just saying

i'm fairly certain that they only get your highest test score so i wouldn't worry about those.

I just answered a similar question a few days ago. Allow me to reiterate.

I recently got into the University of Miami, Class of 2012. School's over now, but back in HS (which was a week ago), I took dozen AP (literally, 12) classes and 10 honors classes, only had like a 5.3 GPA when I applied; was a key and an AP scholar; had maybe 80 community service hours, and sub-1300 SAT scores. I was in three honor clubs and served on the school advisory council. I didn't do anything other extracurriculars, didn't play sports, and didn't think I would really stand out. So I didn't think I was anything stellar really, but still got accepted in the University's most competitive year, with 10,500 plus applications vying for only 2,000 slots.

Son now it is my job to usher in the new generations of future 'canes. Amazing the amount of loyalty a simple letter can evoke. As such, there are three pieces of advice I can give you:

1) Try to raise your all of your numbers as much as possible. Get your GPA up to as high as possible, as there are many other kids with GPA's that are the same if not higher than yours. Take SAT (not ACT) prep classes to try to get your score up. Aim for the mid 1300s or higher (along with you other credentials, 1500 flat, critical reading and math, will more than likely get you 100% tuition). But do not take the test more than 3 times. And continue doing service hours, as they are somewhat important.

2) Make sure your essays, personal statements, and letters of recommendations (not required, though appreciated) are the best that can be written. These are really the only chance you get to describe your self besides mere facts and figures, so be sure to make them count, no pun intended. What you write here can help you in the future.

3) Do not apply 'early action' if your SAT and GPA aren't maximized, as it would be better to wait even though the anticipation for admissions decisions can be lethal in the Spring.

All I can say is good luck on admissions and all your future endeavors.
