My Laptop鈥檚 CPU usage is still running almost constantly at 100% even when it isn鈥檛 performing any tasks? |
Thanks for your answers but the CPU Usage is still almost constantly at 100%. Because of this the opening of Internet Pages, Folders, Documents and Programs take along time to open. The worst effected is when I try to open/play an AVI, then my Media Player plays video and audio normally for about 5 - 10 seconds then the video pauses for around 15 - 30 seconds whilst the audio carries on then the video jumps to the same time as the audio, then the video and audio plays normally for about 5 - 10 seconds then the video pauses for around 15 - 30 seconds whilst the audio carries on and so on and so on. Go to the Task Mgr> Click on Processes Tab> clivk on CPU usage column & take note what processes (Programs) are taking up the most CPU time. You can highlight the processes which are worst affecting the CPU usage & click on end process if you know it's not a system critical process. You have a basic processor so dont expect to multi-task that much. Try to run msconfig under that go startup and disable all. restart then you should notice a more responsive computer. Best thing to do add more ram and delete unused programs. Might be the print spooler - they can get caught in some kind of infinite loop - I had to flatten the system and reinstall the OS to get it to stop. Backup data and try that. Make sure you've found your driver disk before you start! try these tweaks from my youtube video and see if this helps... i had a similar problem recently running vista and it turned out to be the calendar in word..........i disabled that and it was fine You refered to desktop window manager flashing up, that would seem to imply you are running Windows Vista (since in preious versions of windows it is refered to as desktop composting engine) if that is the case your laptop may be a little underpowered. vista requires at least 512mb ram for basic without the desktop window manager (ie Aero) running. if your video card is made into the mother board (integrated) then that is anothetr chunk of memory that is taken up. |
