Is there any consumer court like thing in USA?

I am new to USA. I went to repair my car. The shopowner asked me for $250 and initially I thought he might be correct so in good faith I gave him money and then after a few minutes I asked him for the receipt and break up of how did he charge that amount he was angry and was trying to conceal it and later when I further enquired about the same service it was available for $50-$60 in Wal-mart. Can you please tell me what should I do? When I asked the shopowner he said angrily no these are business tactics. Is there any consumer court in USA as like in our country where government lawyer work for us and the business owner if looses the case has to pay to consumer, lawyer and the government in terms of fine.
Can anybody answer this question?

Most states have a Consumer Fraud division. Usually they have a toll free number. File a complaint with them. We also have small claims courts when you can sue without an attorney. You can report him to any professional organizations he may belong to. You will find this on his walls at his shop. Never pay cash, always use checks or credit card, not debit card. Always get and keep a receipt. Good luck.

If you feel you were screwed over by a company report them to the Better Business Bureau.
