EMERGENCY: Suicidal sister?

My step sister posted pictures of herself in a myspace bulletin with her arm cut (not wrists) bleeding into the sink. Her arm is covered with scars and there is a large gash that looks fairly new and infected. I have no way of getting to her. I called our older sister who lives about 15 minutes away and couldn't get a hold of her. Her brother answered, but he has no license and is on house arrest. She's logged into aim but not responding to IMs. Her brother went to look at the pics and said he would find our sister and call me back. I haven't heard anything. I don't know her address or house number, just a cell number that isn't in service. I also don't know her mother's last name to tell the police any info about where to find her.

I don't know what to do! I don't even know hoe to get to her house! It's bleeding, but not profusely and from where she was cut in the pictures and the amount she's bleeding, she won't die... I'm just worried she went ahead and did something worse con't.

afterward. I don't know what to do, or even if there's anything more I CAN do. Please give me some advice and help.

This is probably much different then most people's answers ...but she is probably not going to kill herself...this her way of reaching out to get help before she does get worse. I am sure by the time her brother and sister talk to her she will feel like someone is there for her. Like i said this is her way of reaching out for attention and help. Call the police! If you wait, all you're doing is helping the situation get worse. You're probably hesitant to contact the police because you're afraid of what might happen to her if you call. Well, what do you think might happen to her if you don't?

I think you don't have any option to do... i have no idea.. i think the police will find her by checking her IP address, this is called tracking, people shouldn't post any nasty bloody pictures about a person dying.. the police will definitely find her

If you were really concerned you would have already called the police. Not been hanging out here. No wonder she is depressed.

Perhaps you could talk to a 911 operator and explain the situation. Or maybe a suicide hotline.

keep the my space up so the police can see, call your police they can get an address from the cell phone even if not in use. When you call explain what is going on, they should send over an officer. can you email it to your dad for him to see? She needs help, maybe this is her way of crying out. I am so sorry. good luck.

She is just a cutter, cutters do it for attention. The truly suicidal ones do it and get it over with. I wouldn't worry too much, she probably has some issue she can't deal with. If she has scars all over her arms, its because she does it on a regular basis. I knew a bunch of cutters in highschool, they usually did it after getting dumped, or not getting what they want. Sooner or later she will realize there are more productive things to do in her life than cut herself and showboat it on myspace.

I agree with Justin S. Not to belittle the situation, but if your step sister were serious about killing herself, she wouldn't be posting the images on myspace, she'd be ... in more serious condition. I used to cut all the time (embarrassed to admit), and took a LOT of pictures of it, blood dripping down arm, etc., sort of a morbid way to express my pain. It felt like "art."

That doesn't mean she shouldn't get help, but I don't think she's in immediate danger. Posting it for all to see was a way of getting attention, if she really wanted to go through with it, she wouldn't want anyone to find out.

Definitely, definitely try to get help, though...just you have more time to deal with it, since it's most likely not a suicide attempt.

Sounds like your sister is Crying out for attention you are probably not giving spending enough quality time with her and giving here the love she deserves. As a sister you definitely Need to let her know you're there for her and won't judge her with what ever problems she's going through or for who she is ( she gets enough of it from other people). Be The sister that she need right now let her be weak for now and show her that it's okay . your her shoulder to lean on or cry on. Talk to her about whats going on , be supportive if she tells you anything, don't just be like "o yea that's bad" or " i hope you feel better" really talk to her. If she posted that picture of herslef on myspace i don't think she really is suicidal i think she just wants some attention any one who was really suicidal would have killed them selves all ready. Maybe she is lonely, Sounds like you really care. Thats great Man ! i hope you can talk her out of this suicidal state . EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE.
