How can I pay my dues?

When I was 19 I was arrested for breaking into a friend's house for a revenge prank. I was only convicted of a misdemeanor, 2nd degree burglary. But from the moment they put the cuffs on me to the day I was convicted, I thought I might have to go to prison for a minimum of two years, and be a felon for the rest of my life.

If that had happened I would be getting out around now. I would almost definitely be enlisting in the army. And hoping to die.

But I was lucky. I prayed, and I like to believe that God answered my prayer. I always try to be the best person I can, but I still feel like I owe something to the universe. Beyond the community service I was assigned.

Any ideas on how I can make it up to the universe for screwing up so royally?

If you have repented your sins are washed away. You could do volunteer work to make your self feel better. Sounds like you have learned your lesson, and you are forgiven if you have truly repented. You don't need to beat your self up for your past mistakes. We all have done things that we are sorry for. But by the Grace of God, it is all behind us now. You need you need to forgive your self now. Start going to a good bible based church . They can help you to get your self back on the right track. God Bless you.

In Gods eyes all you have to do is repent, keep believing in Him and do your best to do right and obey the laws of the land. Everyone messes up and that's what repentance is for, but if you live it, learn from it and go on.

It's typical to let someone off on probation for their first offense. God had nothing to do with it. The best way to make things up so you won't feel guilt is to be the best person you can be. Go to college and get into a field where you can help people, too. Nursing is a good idea.

You owe nothing, JESUS took your sin on the cross. All you have to do is accept it and you are clean!
He did all that so that you can be free & if he can forgive you, then you should be able to forgive yourself.
(Don't carry that burden any-longer), he says: "Come all you heavy ladden and l will give you rest" If you took it to him, be in peace. TRUST ME, HE GIVES YOU PEACE! But the devil wants you feeling guilty, DO NOT ALLOW IT!!

A person must understand that we are born separated from God...Because we are separated we have sin within us that grows as we grow. That is the purpose of Jesus Christ. To accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
If we confess in an attitude of prayer that we believe in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus and invite God into our heart... nothing more!

Then and only then will the Holy Spirit will come and reside in you and will never ever leave. Giving the gift of salvation unto eternal life. At that point you are able to communicate with the Lord and know that if you died today you'd be present with the Lord.

God the Father came as authority of creation and all humanity in the time of the Old Testament (consider Moses ex. 10 commandments).
