What do I do about these annoying, rude people that keep calling my cell phone?

I keep getting calls (and so does my husband) once a week (at least) from an automated message that says, "This is the second notice that the warranty on your vehicle has expired. If you would like to update the warranty, please press 1". So, the first time this happened, I pressed 1 and got this ****** man who told me I had to pay $300 to renew it. So I told him I was interested and he hung up on me. Then the phone calls kept coming and whenever I answer and tell them to take me off the list, they hang up on me and then call me again 5 days later. When I tried calling the number back to talk to a manager, it said, "This number is no longer in service".This is harrassment and I am fed up! What's more, it's my CELL phone. They waste my minutes everytime they call me! And I have no idea how they got my number. It's not the dealership. It's some random group that is unaffiliated. If I call the police, can they do anything about it?

The number is: 918-375-2671. I called the police department and they said to go online and register with the National Do Not Call List and to call my cell phone provider. I called them and they said all they could do is change my phone number. Annoying. Anyway, will the Do Not Call List actually work? Can I make that *** hole company reimburse me for the minutes they've wasted calling me?

Talk to your wireless comapany about blocking that number. Or, next time they call--try for the supervisor again. If you can or cant, talk to anyone and say that you have requested that they remove you from their list and that they keep calling your personal cellphone (most companies cant call your cell...and if they happen to have it, you can tell them its a cell and they are supposed to take you off their list anyways). Also, there is some new thing (try searching it up..it was on yahoo's frontpage about a week or so ago)...for a national "Do-not-call" list for cellphones that has no set signup deadline.

But I figure talking to your wireless company about what you can do about this kind of thing may be your best bet.

EDIT:

Well, I highly doubt you can get them to reimburse you for the minutes. But, you can get a printout (possibly through your wireless provider or thorugh an online account you may have with your provider) of calls received. If they call excessively, then you can do something about it. I knew a company who once called a woman almost 300 times in 2 weeks. Take the printout, and your story, to a lawyer. You can get a free consultation and they can tell you exactly what steps to take. They may be able to tell you that you can sue for harassment.

Is your number on the do not call registry....if it is and they call you, you inform them that your number is on this list. If they call again after that you can take legal action.

Type in STOP then hit reply. Also put on do not call.

get online get the report from your phone that proves how many times they called you and then report them . this is a violation of law and he could get fired, the company could get fined and you will be left alone.

Forget the cops, write to the Attorney General of your state.

Put it on vibrate and just do not speak to them. Good Luck!

report it. if you really want.
