I have only been to one service where they preached on the subject of hell. are they too scared that they are going to turn the congregation away? well brothers and sisters they need to hear the truth on hell, as it is no easy ride to Heaven, Jesus spoke about the wide gate and the narrow one, and the people that think they will enter won't. And also they do not preach on the return of Christ. This world has you know is is headed for doom, as it is doomed. I do not know when Jesus is returning but I do know this it is sooner than you all think. and if you are trying to be smart on your answer you will be reported. only sincere christians only. The whole fire and brimestone business in common knowledge. Beating it into Christians heads does nothing except turn people away from the church.
We know what awaits us after death. The most importent message us clergy can teach is Gods message and his rules. We are living in the last days, and many are devoid of the truth. It is also true that people do not wish to offend others, but I would rather offend others, than God. Truth is truth, it cannot be compromised. After all, will people be grateful to Christians when they are in hell for withholding the truth about hell? I'm a sincere Christian, probably more so than you. And the last thing we need here is for anyone to preach on hell and damnation: If God were to be feared instead of loved, then He wouldn't be worth it. Accept it: a hate religion is certainly not Christian. Maybe you should read the New Testament with an open mind. I don't know what,s happened to church,s,,,they do not

God help us all to find God and keep him near. because the main teaching of christianity is not Hell or the return of Jesus..the main teaching of christianity is living by what Jesus taught us..and therefore, they speak on that..because teaching on what he taught us is what will save us from hell, and have us ready for the return. think about it...
if I only spoke to you of your job..and the only things I talked to you about were getting fired, and rehired..but never told you what you needed to know for those two things...well, it wouldn't help you would it? its the between part that is the most important. Because end-of-the-world stories have been written by better writers, such as Stephen King, Robert McCammon, Margaret Atwood, etc. These people make better plots, better characters, just all around better stories, than the people who wrote the Bible.
I like a good scary story as much as anybody, but I insist on it being coherent and well-written. All churches I've been to preach heaven, hell, and Jesus coming again. I've been to Baptist, Assembly of God, Charismatic, and Pentecostal churches. It's called being a seeker sensitive church. Steer Clear!!! Much like Joel Osteen, there are preachers who don't want to offend any one and want to appeal to the multitudes.
God is a God of love, but He's also a just God and those who reject Him will pay. It will offend most Christian people. Christianity in America is a watered down Gospel void of anything that can be deemed offensive by it's congregation! Just sad!
Just My Thoughts! Because it's so ridiculous. If enough people start thinking about the absurdity of hell, then they might start questioning the rest of it. Perhaps there are not many people around who share your pessemistic beliefs?
Perhaps they don't preach it because they don't agree with you? Churches are trying not to step on toes. They don't want to cause conflict within their churches so they avoid the "hot" topics. because only talking about one subject will scare the people away, there are lots of 'sins' they have to talk about as well tired of saying the same bull...... and want to teach something new cuss they can not seem to buy that car or home they want. I preach on it all the time...God bless Probably because most have compromised.
They have compromised on the truth, plain and simple.
When you are preparing a sermon, one temptation you may be hit with is to "soften" a little so that you do not offend.
Many have given in to that. They are more interested in scratching the ears that itch...tell 'em what they wanna hear, let 'em believe they're okay, and that God has their back.
It is a high calling to minister, and I am afraid the ones that get the positions are not the ones which received a real call. That, or they have been tainted by incorrect teaching in seminary. And yes, that DOES happen. Amen!

Edit: I truly believe what the Bible says. There is a Great Falling Away, and it is happening right now. You are correct. You can tell by most of these answers which church people belong to. My church preaches THE WHOLE WORD OF GOD, not just the parts we love to hear, but the parts that are HARD TO HEAR. The parts that Jesus Himself preached about Hellfire and damnation. If they think they are going to escape it by not teaching it, they are very sadly mistaken. I do believe, with all my heart, though, that God is raising up a new batch of young preachers, and is teaching them Himself. My nephew is one of them. He is preaching in a church where they had heard nothing but stories for years and years, and are just now being told the TRUTH. They thank him each and every Sunday for bringing the TRUE message of Jesus Christ to them. They have been crying because they had been deceived for so long, and now they realize that. They were headed for Hell, but, now, thanks to God's great mercy and grace, have been saved. Always preach the Truth! Not just part of it. A "half-truth" is a lie!
Edit: Reallytrue101--I agree with you totally. The rapture will happen, but not until AFTER the Great Tribulation. We will go through that, and then, Jesus will cut it short, or no one would live. Pre-wrath rapture is Scriptural. "God did not appoint us to WRATH." Tribulation is NOT God's WRATH. Thank you for pointing that out. And that the "GREAT AND TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD" will be GREAT for us believers, but TERRIBLE for unbelievers.

If Jesus has put these messages on your heart, and I share them too as I evangelize, then share them in love, and help others to Jesus salvation.

as far as teaching the end times, and you are basically right -
its getting late in the day so you would think they would be
preaching it day and night. The main reason is because many churches do not know how to teach it. They do not seem to feel the importance of having a teacher on-staff who can handle the manuscripts and the languages.
Just last week I heard a preacher on Tv state that Christians
do not need to understand the Book of Revelation, because they're gonna be gone. Many have fallen for the false
fly-away doctrine known as the rapture. They
think they are gonna jet-pak outta here before the tribulation of Antichrist. Its not Biblical, and its not gonna happen.
As a matter of fact, Paul in 2thessalonians makes it crystal
clear that Christ WILL NOT gather back to us for any reason until AFTER Antichrist sits in Jerusalem professing that he is god. And at that point, the two witnesses are killed and 3 1/2 days later they rise to their feet and the true Christ returns.
When do they think they are gonna fly? At the point where
it can be possible scripturally (and this would be a stretch)
there are only 3 1/2 days left - - they wouldn't have "escaped" very much of it, for sure.
Another thing I see is where Churches say that the Book of Revelation is sealed and man is not supposed to understand it. Another of Satans deceptions. The very word "revelation" means to uncover, or to make known. And I have 9 year old students who understand the Book.
I agree with you about the importance, but at the same time,
I need you to not call the Lords Day, that day at His second coming, as "dooms day". Its not dooms day for Gods Children - he's not angry at those who try - he is going to
take vengence on those who set themselves up as the enemies of God. But doomsday? Nope, it'll be the greatest
day ever known to mankind.
Do not think that what you see happening in this world is going to doom it - God is still in control. Don't forget that
he doesn't want everyone on their best behavior - he wants them to show their true colors so he can weed them out: the
wheat into the barn, and the chaff into the fire. Don't be too
negative about what you see - its part of the plan , so you
just let these folks show their true colors. We are going into
the eternity for the long-haul, and so this weeding out is
very important to the plan.
Let the world go nuts - just stay focused and have a working
knowledge of the plan of God, esspecially those seven seals of teaching in Revelation. Not one hair on your head will
be harmed.

rt Good question! I bet they don't because it is confusing for many of them. They think Jesus (mpbuh) died for all their sins, therefore they think they can do whatever they desire and they will be forgiven anyways. Then their holy book tells them otherweise...its part of the reason I converted to Islam. The whole "All sins are forgiven because you are a christain, and everybody else goes to hell" concept seemed like total bull to me. God had me picked for Islam at a very early age, I just didn't figure that out until later on in life. I believe I will be held completely responsible for all my sins, and its my job to repent for them. Hopefully Jesus will not come back during my life time, as he will not have the patience for those who know Gods Law and do otherweise that he did a few thousand years ago. The return of Jesus will not be good for the hypocrates. I feel sorry for anybody who refers to him as God or the son thereof during his return. May they be forgiven. |
