Objective Answers Please: Toshiba/Dell/HP?

I am looking to buy a new laptop soon but even though I have a good sense of which features/capabilities I want, I have not yet made my mind on which brand I should go with.

Cost is not an issue, but solid (graphics-intensive) performance is.

I've been told that Toshibas overheat but are good computers, even though I've heard the opposite as well. I am not a big fan of most of their designs and think most of their products look cheap and plasticky.

I know from experience that Dells are usually time bombs, although offer decent performance, are very customizable and look somewhat more decent. Customer service has been excellent over the four years I've had my current laptop, although I've heard horror stories as well.

I'm neutral about HPs, although people who have owned them seem to love them and rave about customer service.

Or is it all the same at the end of the day?

I have owned 2 dell laptops (still own one of them) and i own an HP laptop.

Dell is a very good computer and is quite customizable. I've always found their customer service to be lacking (espically with having to call India for support) But i have had very problems so it really hasnt been an issue. your Time bomb comment does seem a bit true though. All of my dell computers have lasted 3 months longer than warrenty and then something goes bad... the weird thing is they had diffrent warrenty levels and whether 1 or 3 years it always happened 3 months after it ran out... quite odd. Luckily they were minor problems i could fix myself.

The HP i currently own i love. its solidly build and is a pleasure to use. I love just about everything about it. my only complaint is the fact that the number pad (17in notebook) seems to be a bit small to me, but it hasn't ever really bothered me that much.

Toshiba's i know nothing about and honestly i have never known anyone to have one so i cant help you.

If i were to suggest... i would say a high end HP. They have some pretty great stats for the price and the notebooks are beautiful. Metallic interior and the "zen" covers really make the thing stand out from the crowd. Something like the dv9700 or better would be a great gaming rig and i believe they have a full blown gaming rig as well... something to do with a Dragon but i cant remember (my gaming rig is a Gateway FX series)

I hope this helps

Well there has been a big drop in Dell demands, due to their batteries over heating and cathing on fire (years ago) with most schools and works replacing them with hp.
Dell is apperently getting better but hp is reliable but I know people who have had problems with the cords.
I'm with you on Toshibas :P.

I'm a new user of hp and had a lil problem and contacted customer services i emailed them and with in 10 minutes they phoned me back and talked me through my problem so i highly recommend hp the best by far b4 that i had a Toshiba satellite and was not impressed the wifi dint work and it had loads ov hard where bugs

HP is probably the best if you consider all aspects such as cost, ease of use, ease of repair/upgrades & their customer support is better than the others AND getting better.

My suggestion, go for HP-Compaq or Toshiba. Both are good laptop brands

Sony VAIO庐 TZ Series Notebook

All the same, just depends on luck. I would go tosh, as replacement parts come up more on ebay, but thays really all

Dell

hello!

i suggest u to go for hp for professional use

thanks...
