Question! 10 points for BEST answer?

I recently just bought a Blackberry Pearl 8120 from T-Mobile and I don't have unlimited internet or the data plan (only unlimited messaging)
questions:

1) When I try and sign on to AIM/Yahoo! Messenger/MSN/etc. it says "Service not enabled for this device"...any ideas as to what I can do?

2) If I use Wi-Fi at home and surf the internet is it free or will I be charged on my next bill?

if you are using wi-fi you MUST be careful because you CAN get charged even if you are not using "their" data. check your connections settings. there have been horror stories of ppl using their wifi and still being billed hundreds of dollars because they didn't have their connections properly configured.

there are third party applications you can use for instant messaging that in my opinion are far better. for example IM+
it lets you log onto your aim, msn, yahoo, jabber, icq, google talk, and myspace thingie all from one app. also you can use this program through wifi (which i do) and it works excellent. with enough searching on the web you can find it free :P

Pay the extra $29.00 a month for the unlimited internet, it is really worth it. I got my girlfriend a iPhone and then she asked me the same thing, to HACK it, so I did.... Well everything was great till we got her bill for $800.00 for one month.

Luckily they let her get away with taking those excess charges off because she said she was never told at the store.

Just pay it, and use the Blackberry Features, TRUST ME you will be glad you did. That phone rocks, I have been choosing between iPhone and Blackberry, and I am thinking I am leaning Blackberry for business reasons.

For the messenger you will need the internet to sign on and send and receive messages.... but on the other hand if you have aim you can sign in using your phone #.

2) No you willl not get charged for it... it is just like if you were using a laptop to sign onto sumone elses wi-fi.

Do you have any kind of internet on your phone? I have unlimited text messages on my phone *listed as unlimited messaging*, but I have internet disabled. You have to specifically enable the internet in order to use aim and stuff like that. I have no clue about the wi-fi. Try to call the help line and ask customer service! Hope it helps a little!

my husband works for a mobile phone company, and he used to have a blackberry but scrapped it as it cost too much to run. but if it is wifi/hsdpa enabled then it should be free to log on at home, but as for loggin on out and about, you will need to set up the blackberry client which has its own extra monthly charge. i know he would pay 拢25 a month for the phone and then an extra 拢25 a month for the blackberry client

1) that is because the AIM/Yahoo do not provide service for that particular phone.

2) If u use Wi-Fi from your home.... then you just pay for the normal internet bills for that Wi-Fi and nothing for ur black berry

1)When it says service not enabled that means that you don't have the internet data plan, that cost extra
2)If you use wifi at home that is free

1. you need to go to the store you bought the phone! and or call the store and tell them your prob.

2. its free sence your using Wi-Fi

1 ) Try www.ebuddy.com

2 ) I think you'll be charged.

Hope that helped

1) Check for an update for the IMing program.
2) It should be because that a different internet source.

I think you should have a HELP number with your phone. call it They know that phone inside and out. and well be able to help you with all your questions

you may not have by accident purchased the internet

NOPE
