What do we pay taxes for in the UK? What services do we actually get for our taxes...i feel so let down by?

The police are worthless and i cant get a doctors appointment until the end of next week, i feel like **** and i just want to cry. And when i see the deductions in my payslip i wanna cry even more.

If the kids are drinking and p1ssing outside my flat tomorrow im gonna call 999 and say i saw a knife, im sure that will have them straight out.

Also when my mum collapsed and had a fit (turned out to be a panic attack but i didnt know that) and i called for an ambulance it just rang and rang and rang for about 2 minutes b4 it was picked up.

Firebrigade are good though, i called them once and they were out in minutes!

Your taxes pay for us to station troops in Germany, the Falkslands, Ireland, The USA, Canada, Gibatar and a number of other places

in addition it enables us to pay for the wars against Iraq and Afganistan (which combined have now last longer that the war against the Nazi). It also allows the massive billion pound refurbishment of our polaris nuclear submarines.

I think 75% of the population is asking this same question. The present Government is so adept at taking our money and throwing it away on useless schemes, benefits, immigrants (which should be strictly controlled as we are running out of space in this island) that we now have the ridiculous situation where honest hard working folk are ignored.

What's to be done about the situation? I really don't think there is a politician alive in this country who has the determination and guts to get the situation put right. The last ten years have seen this lovely old country of ours ruined.

You are right about the police, once at 11 o'clock, in the evening a group of drunk guys broke my living room window and tried to get in, i am 20 years old, i was downstairs doing my uni work while my family were all asleep upstairs, there was five of them, all completely drunk, god knows where they had come from, i tried to persuade them to leave, before my brother and everyone else woke up and together we started chucking them out, but they didn't go away and stayed behind the door, shouting, laughing, swearing, all that time we waited for the police, the police came at 6am, and started asking their stupid questions.
