How to start a Taxi service in Tamilnadu?

Hi all,
My father has an Ambassador for his personal use in a small town in Tamilnadu and also a driver at his disposal. Besides his personal use, he wants to rent the car/run as a taxi service. What are the steps to register as a Taxi service? What is the procedure to be followed? What are the taxes to be payed? I live outside India and cant help him. It would be great if someone with experience in this field answers my question.

You or Your father (who ever own) an Ambassador Car on papers (Registration) will be required to get the registration changed and pay 'Road Tax' payable for Taxi.

Instead, of turning personnel car into Taxi, You can think of some other use of 'Car and Driver'.

Alternative use of 'Car and Driver' can be,

1. Franchisee of http://www.mymaninindia.com
2. Forming an association with Bank(s), Commercial and Insurance Companies, having branch(s) in small town in which your father is living, for use of his 'Car and Driver' for a payment.
3. Picking and Dropping, School going Children, from their home to school and back from school to home.


You can also think of replacing, existing Ambassador Car with a Van, as well as Car Driver with 'Van Driver-***-Mgr.' and attendant (if you choose) the last option.



What ever you decide, do take a consent of your parents. Your father shall be able to monitor (supervise), otherwise, entire exercise will become a problem for him.
