If Liberals pad for Social Service and Conservatives paid for the military, who would get a better deal?

I'm a moderate. Best deal of all!

If that happened, Social Services would drown in the money. Here's why:
1. Today's spending for ALL social services by federal government is around $210B/year while Pentagon is at 500B+
2. Most liberals live in high-income states such as California and New York. These states supply bulk of all federal tax revenue. Conservative states, given sizes of their economies, do not account for much in taxes.

The bigger question is who would pay National Debt.

Interesting question! I think it could lead to a lot of interesting "what if"s...

For example, suppose antinukes radical's had their way and the US had unilaterally disarmed in the 1960's. Would the Soviet Union have conquered us (as depicted in the fine 1980's flick Red Dawn)?

Suppose LBJ's "Great Society" program had the funding that LBJ and other liberals wanted. Would be have a bankrupt wellfare state today, or would the money have given us a more egalitarian (without a seemingly permenant underclass) society, like say Switzerland? Then again without our nukes, perhaps the USSR would have taken over Switzerland...

Would we be better off without programs like welfare, or would the lack of a financial safety net, make the US a fightening and violent (because more "have not"'s would be forced to turn to crime) , or would we be a capitalist paradise?

Or perhaps allowing people decide whether their tax dollars went to denfense social programs, we would have some conservatives and some liberals and some who switch depending upon whether they see the balance tipping too far one way or the other.

Do the Conservatives have to protect the Libs?? Or are they expendable!

Since Conservatives believe in providing for themselves, the Libs would get the better deal... because they would be the first to cry for help when we are attacked.

To the poster above me... Is that why California is almost bankrupt??
