Isn't Yahoo! Answers a global service?

I have noticed recently that some members of Y!A seem to make the asumption that their own country is the only target audince for Yahoo! Answers.

It is my understanding that it is a service for anyone in the world. Yet we are getting questions like this:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...
This person has asked "Are we like the Japenese". I'm not sure who we is in reference to, as that could be any one country or culture. Therefore the entire question makes no sence.

Then I got advice telling me to go to City Hall for a civil partership. Okay I live in Ireland we don't have a City Hall.
Then of course theres also "Hey dude go to Wall Mart, cause they have this amazing blah blah blah" Again Wall Mart doen't exist in my country we don't have it.

This is suposed to be a global service why are people not aware of that.

What do they think www. stands for. Well I tell ya World Wide Web. It isn't called the american wide web because it's for the entire wold. OK

Many people that use the site are young and uninformed. Since they are in the US, they assume the questions are from the US. They don't realize that if we (the US users) don't DELIBERATELY change our options EVERY TIME we come on the site to 'US Questions' ony, we default to 'All English' and get questions from the English-speaking world. Nor do they realize that questions asked on the US site also will go out to any of the English-speaking sites if the receiver has their options set to 'All English'. It is an easy thing to overlook.

I keep my setting on "US Questions Only", yet I believe that the filter is somehow faulty, because questions that are obviously from other countries (like this one by you) still appear. I try to tailor my answers to the US site, since I assume that is where the question is from, but I can't be sure that is correct all the time, either. So I would suggest that if you have a question whose answer might rely heavily on knowledge of your location, you include that information in the question details, to set folks straight from the get-go.

I've never been more disappointed with any rresponsesI have ever gotten from a question. How pathetic. Report It

It would seem that you are contradicting yourself. You are criticizing others for not being aware that this is a global site in one breath and then grousing because you have read replies that apply to parts of the world other than your own.

So you don't have a city hall or Wal Mart.
You have some sort of municipal building where records such as marriage licenses, deeds, etc are recorded.
We call it city hall. You call it whatever you call it.

You have the internet.
Whatever product is being touted at Wal Mart is, undoubtedly, available somewhere on the 'net if it is not available in your local market, department store or whatever name you have for a store.

I beseech you to practice the same tolerance you are asking for.
