How do I get a job in an office with no previous experience?

I suffer from severe social anxiety which makes it impossible for me to keep a job if it deals with customer service or even something that just involves answering phones.
I'm good with computers though I have no previous job experience proving it. How do I go about getting a simple clerical type job with no previous experience?

You can look on Careerbuilder or other internet job boards. Narrow the searches down by doing a search in your area for the word "mail" or "mail room". Most mail rooms will not require you to deal with customers and many will give you your own cubicle to work in so you dont have to work around too many people. Maybe 1 or 2 in an office environment. If you are willing to relocate, these type of jobs are a dime a dozen in the Bay Area California. If you rent an apartment the cheapest price would be about $700 if you are living outside the cities and then your average pay for this type of job would be between $14-18 an hour. If you are really having a hard time finding one on your own, you can go to officeteam or manpower. They both have sent me on office jobs because I knew how to type. I quit both and I dont like the idea that I would get paid alot more if I didnt go through them, but there good when ya got nothing. I worked in mail rooms for law firms, google, yahoo, places like that. In bay area theres lots of jobs like that, but Im sure you can find them in any city. If you really have a problem working with others, you can always learn to make money on the internet if you need to. I learned affiliate marketing, domains and stuff like that. Heres a tutorial for domains http://www.richkits.com/domains You can make some good money or just part time with that but I also recommend you learn how to sell things. Like on ebay or ecrater or craigslist, even on your own website. Just learn how to do anything on the internet and it will lead into learning other things. If you happen to look in careerbuilder for jobs you should also remember to make sure you are checking surrounding areas...like cities that are 20 miles away and stuff if you are able to drive.

I don't know if there are simple clerical type jobs anymore. If you're good with computers why not looks for jobs where you don't have to deal with people often. Eventually, you will get comfortable with the people you work with but generally, you'll work independently. Data entry, computer operator, snf accounting clerk are a few jobs that I had that required minimum client contact.

How do you expect to work in an office if you are not going to answer phones? Even they have phones. So i suggest that you apply for data entry positions (if they are still around). with the improved technology, the simple clerical jobs are not that simple anymore. Every thing belongs to the admin, so I suggest that you get over you social anxiety.

Volunteer work, say with a church

A church has members who know companies, so, ergo, contacts

You have to network

Other ways into a company is such jobs as janitor, because with your foot in the door, you know who hires, what jobs are open, etc
