What kind of security clearance are Navy pilots required? (NOTE: open to only Navy aviators)? |
I am a US Navy airman training to be an aircraft electrician but I am planning to go to Seaman-to-Admiral ROTC program and train to be a fighter pilot later in service. I've been hearing rumors that I need a Top Secret clearance AND I mostly wanna fly jet fighters/antisub planes for the Navy. I need Navy officers to answer me on this one. My mom is NOT a US citizen. Will that affect my chance of being Top Gun? That is completely correct a TS at minimum is needed. Top Gun? Dude Top Gun is a qualification you are PICKED to attend, it has no relevance to the nationality of your mother. Well im not a airman or in the air force or navy im a combat medic and a radiology tech. I know for a fact all officers must have Top Secret clearance because they may at one point be passed on sesitive information. The reason that I know this is that i have submitted a OCS packet and my clearance is getting approve as we speak and trust me it takes a while. Go to soldieronpoint.com and click on UCMJ because all branches of military fall under that they will have something there that you will be able to find out about that. Yes you will need top secret clearance, as all military officers do. It will be a bit harder for you to get one since your mother is not a citizen, but it is not impossible, it will just take a little longer. As long as YOU do not have dual citizenship, it should not be a major problem. You heard right. You do need a top secret clearance, and only 3 can be done from your command per month, so make sure you ask your XO to put your name in for a clearance. They take a while too so be prepared to wait. |
