Was the way I was treated at the hospital normal?

ok so I will be 24 weeks tomorrow, I had been having sharp pains last night near the top of my stomach, I called my doctors answering service and they told me 2 go to the hospital, so I did, turns out I was having contractions, they kept me over night, gave me 2 bags of i.v. stuff, that seemed to make them stop, so anyways this morning, at like 730am, my husband went in the hall to get a drink and saw my doctor at the front desk, I guess they called him and told him, he didnt even come in and talk to me, about 5 minutes later a nurse comes in and says ok you can go home then unplugs all my stuff, then we just get to leave, she gave me my discharge papers but there were no special instructions on them, I know while I was there they tested me positive for being at risk of preterm labor. Does it seem normal how I was treated? Should my dr at least have come in and seen me?

yeah I was kept over night, I checked in about 7pm, then got discharged at like 721 am. I do have a doctors appointment this friday so maybe he wants to wait until then?

wow I'm sorry you had to go through that...I think your dr was probably just really busy but I know how frustrating that can be bc this is your body and your baby. I think it's a very good sign that they checked your cervix was hard and closed; if it was even shortening and thinning out a little that would not be a good thing as early as you are (I'm due July 2 and mine has already shortened and thinned out a little but I havent had any contractions). Since they turned out to be actual contractions, my guess like some1 else said is it was bc you werent drinking enough fluids. They should have given you instructions on what to do if this happens again and to prevent contractions, such as increase fluid intake etc. Whenever I go to the hospital for anything relating to my pregnancy even if it turns out to be nothing (which yours was not bc you were having real contractions) then they always give me instructions on paper in case it happens again or warning signs and prevention. I'm sure they were very busy but you still deserved to leave with a clear explanantion of what was going in your body and with your baby and also an explanantion of the positive results for being at risk of preterm labor. I am really sorry you were dealt with in this way. Perhaps you could send a message to your doctor explaining you would like more concrete details of how to prevent this and what the positive results mean or indicate exactly? Then he could call you back and explain it to you.
I have dealt with doctors like this too who were in a rush my OB is just like this and I feel like I can never ask her anything relating to my progress and my pregnancy. In fact, other OB's I've seen who I'm not even their patient have been more informative with me! Be very cordial and polite, don't get mad bc then the doc will assume youre irrational and then wont take you seriously, but be very peristent at the same time. Thats the way I am with my OB about my questions, and it's slowly starting to work.
Because you tested positive for preterm labor (was it the fetal fibronectin test btw?) you may be considered a high-risk pregnancy so hopefully your doctor will treat you as such and will let you see him/her for every 2 weeks instead of monthly.

Yes your doctor should of came in and saw you. He should of gave you some special instructions such as stay well hyrdated with plenty of fluids and avoid as much stress as possible.

I would call my doctor and make an appointment to talk to him.

That odd and it seems that they are busy or something like that. I would ask him alot of questions when you see him on Friday. Right now relax and rest till you know want going on. I wish you the best luck and hope that little one stay in there.
