Do You Think Internet Addictions Affect Our Economy?

Just a thought I had recently when the internet service-cable as well/ comcast was out for the majority of the day in my area. I went shopping, there was alot more traffic and shoppers out than a average weekday. I know alot of people addicted to internet games and other internet related sites, including yahoo answers. Could that mean less shopping is caused by the Internet? Your thoughts.

The Internet also allows people to shop on line, but it does offer a huge form of entertainment and many people take advantage of that and save money by not spending it in their neighborhoods and local municipalities. So yes, to some degree it affects the local economies and yet, it adds to the overall global economy.

Absolutely not. MORE shopping is caused by the Internet! All those computers, and games, and software, and services, that's an awful lot of stuff bought and sold. Add to that the almost unbelievable increase in productivity and the amazing reduction in prices that has happened because of the Internet.

There is absolutely no question about it; the Internet has caused unprecedented increases in economic activity around the world.

Yes. There is an internet addiction...especially amongst young people. Myspace and social networking sites are leading the way. I do not know if they will stifle the economy though, what they will do is get teenagers out of houses and instead they will be walking around malls.
