Explanation please!!!!? |
Why is it that people with little compassion or understanding of disabilities or what it is like to be disabled feel the need to post answers to posters in this particular forum who just want help coping with the lot they were given. For instance the posters who tell us we are whiny and have too much time on our hands when we ask questions about laws ans access. I hate to be rude but it really peeves me when you tell us to just deal with things like lack of access. Try putting yourselves in our shoes when basic needs or sometimes vital services can't be accessed. then think how long it would take you to learn these laws,. I just think before posting, especially in a forum like this, you should use a little judgment and compassion. Sorry for the rant but I had to mention it. comments anyone? thank you all for your responses :) I completely agree with you. They should "Walk a mile in our shoes". Once they find out what it is really like to be a PWD, they will have a changed attitude. Well unfortunately, these are the type of people, who lack the ability to see themselves in someone elses situation.I feel that it is usually brought on by plain ignorance.Chances are they are too ignorant,to realize that it's probably their way of redirecting their own problems, from being teased or wanting to fit in,that causes them to feel the need to take it out on other less fortunate people. You could liken them to the play ground bullies. The amount of aggravation you feel is probably proportionate to the type of disability. I am a below knee amp and any one can feel free to ask me anything. I can answer for other types of disabilities, or physically challenged as I was an RN and worked with spinal cord injured persons. I totally agree with you. Let them live in our shoes for 1 week. I'll bet the will be whinning after 2 minutes or sooner. |
