Upper Second Class Honours Degree?

Hello everybody
I am an Italian university student planning to pursue my studies abroad. On the Limerick University page here: http://www.ul.ie/web/WWW/Services/Resear...
they ask "upper second or first class honours degree" as an entry requirement, what does that mean?
Please DO NOT ANSWER if you do not know the correct and documented answer to this question. I t is a serious matter. Thanks

I take it then you must be applying for a post-graduate position. An upper second degree (2:1) is basically an average of all your marks that falls between 60 and 69 out of 100. A first class degree (1:1) is 70 + and lower second between 50-59 (2:2) and a third is usually somewhere between 40-49 (though in some uni's 45-49). Most research/MA/PhD positions require you get a 2:1 or a 1st. Hope that helps

your applying for a MA course, so they expect a good first degree at an upper second or first class degree. This would be better in English or that you can show proficiency in English, perhaps a IELTS qualification.
There is scope you could talk to the course director, who might have some discretion, but they clearly say this is an exception and if you want to go to Limerick Univ. then you would be considered for the undergraduate degree course.
Hope this helps
