I Need Mature Advice Please! 10 Points for Best Answer?

i have worked for McDonald's for three years. Im 18 now. i know this job like i know myself and i can do it really well. im one of the best. they are always promising me promotions and so far i havent got anywhere because im in school, im finished in two weeks now however.
but today, i got offered a new job as a waitress in a hotel. its much better money, a nicer uniform and he even offered supervisor if it suits me, mentioning an open spot.

my problem is, if i go for this new job, i cant go to community college in september, therefore not getting my certificate in health and community services. but, i would have much better experience, and money to move back home and go to college there. (i live in Ireland now, but am desperate to move back to California, where im from)
i want to be a cop or something similar someday.
If i stay in McDonalds and go to college for the year, ill have a cert, but no experience and cant go home for a further few years at least.
What should i do? Advice??

your young so you have plenty of time and if you REALLY want to go back home- do what you have to to get to that goal then when you return to CA finish school :) You can get the education on either end but it sound slike you'd rather be home (come home then:)

I think you should look into colleges that might offer the cert. that you want in Cali. A school that will also have classes around your work schedule. I feel you'll be happier near your parents, making better money, and you can still get the certificate that you want.

Reading over your question..... is the new job in Ireland? If so, go to Cali, since you know McDonald's so well..... work at one in Cali, so you can get your certificate.

You need to think about what you really want....what is your gut telling you? What I would choose to do and what you want might not be the same thing. Sit down and think. If your main goal is to move back home, take the waitress job. If it's to get your cert, then stay at McD's. It sounds to me like you are dying to move back home.....

If you need the money to go home, take the waitress job. Then go home, go to school and take a part time job at MacDonalds or waitress job in California.
GO TO SCHOOL!

You need to work out what your priorities or objectives are and then figure out which route helps you achieve them. If your highest priority is to return home to California then you need to decide which will work better for you. You could go sooner but with no qualification and therefore you might find it harder to get work or you could invest the time in getting your further education so that when you are ready to hit Califonia you have plenty to offer.

For what it is worth I would get all the qualifications and education you can, it is time well spent and will pay off plenty in the future.

Good luck!
