I need advice!! 10 Pints Best Answer!!?

i have worked for McDonald's for three years. Im 18 now. i know this job like i know myself and i can do it really well. im one of the best. they are always promising me promotions and so far i havent got anywhere because im in school, im finished in two weeks now however.
but today, i got offered a new job as a waitress in a hotel. its much better money, a nicer uniform and he even offered supervisor if it suits me, mentioning an open spot.

my problem is, if i go for this new job, i cant go to community college in september, therefore not getting my certificate in health and community services. but, i would have much better experience, and money to move back home and go to college there. (i live in Ireland now, but am desperate to move back to California, where im from)
i want to be a cop or something similar someday.
If i stay in McDonalds and go to college for the year, ill have a cert, but no experience and cant go home for a further few years at least.
What should i do? Advice??

if i stay in McDonalds, i wont have any extra experience but i will have a Cert to my name. ive worked there so long though, id feel like i was turning my back on them. and it is also a definate job for me, i know i would never lose it.

so its a risk to leave it.

Focus on the long-term. Your ultimate goals are to move home and have a career in police or community services, right? So focus on what will help you achieve those goals.

Experience in food service doesn't count as experience for your community service goals. It doesn't matter if you're working at McDonalds or a sit-down restaurant - serving food isn't the same as shooting down bad guys or running a public service agency. If you were leaving McDonalds to intern at a local police station or blood donation center or emergency dispatch, now that would be appropriate experience worth postponing education for, and are alternatives you should aggressively investigate.

So focus on your education for now. These courses will help you directly achieve your goal. Talk with the supervisor at the hotel; explain that you would love to work there but your education has to come first, and can they work around your school schedule? You never know what you can get until you ask.

What is your dream? What do you want to be doing, say in ten years time? Go for your dream and be determined to succeed and any decision you make will be the best one.

Don't go for your dream, and be more concerned about money etc. and I personally feel that you will not be happy and regret the decision.

My thoughts - McDonalds won't miss you, honestly and you will be moving back to where you really want to be. Right?

you should follow your heart. if you work in the morning why don't you go to classes at night..or if you work at night go to class in the morning. just so you can get your certificate, you can be with your family, and you can have a better paying job.

well the hotel job seems pretty cool and maybe you can go to a college where the hotel is. if you love your job now then keep it because would you rather have a job that you love? or one that pays good but you might not like, all depends on your heart too and stuff
