OK...let's try this. Your Yahoo phone service is a VoIP phone service where the voice is digitized and then sent as packets and then reassembled at the other end. So there are a number of factors that might be in play. Some you can control and some you can't

The biggest issue is bandwidth. Make sure you (and the other person if it's computer to computer) shut down anything that might be trying to access the Internet while you are talking. If you are surfing the net at the same time your taking bandwidth that might otherwise be getting you a better signal.

Also, if you are using wireless, changes in your wireless signal might be causing a problem as well. So either use a hard-wired connection or get as close to the wireless access point as possible. And, if the wireless allows you to walk around...don't! LOL

A lesser possibility is there might be something running on your computer that is really hogging some processor time, but I think that is less likely. you might run something like task manager to see what your processor utilization looks like when your on a call. If it's high then experiment with shutting some processes down to see if that helps.

Another thing to consider is your type of connection. If you have a cable modem you do contend with sharing bandwidth with other people in the same area. If you seem to notice more problems at particular times of day then that might be part of the problem.

Also, if you are on wireless, you may need to change the channel you are using on your wireless router. Sometimes cordless phones can interfere with wireless communications. Go into your router and choose another channel. Your PC should automatically detect the new channel and you may be OK.

Lastly, and this is something you have probably already done, but check your headset and maybe try a new one.

Hope one or more of these helps!!

Ken

Make sure you have all the latest drivers. Not much but its something.
